President of the Republic: Relations with Germany are increasingly improving

BERLIN - The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, affirmed Thursday, in Berlin, that relations between Algeria and the Federal Republic of Germany are strong and are increasingly improving.

 Speaking at a joint press conference with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, the President of the Republic said that the Algerian-German relations, established just after independence in 1962, are "strong, friendly, free of any dispute, and are increasingly improving."

He added that relations with Germany are among "the best cooperative relations that Algeria currently maintains."

The President of the Republic underlined that "Algeria has made significant progress and is now looking to break into new sectors, such as developing a specialized pharmaceutical industry, by drawing on Germany's highly advanced expertise in this field."

He also recalled having recently laid the foundation stone for the Algerian Institute for Stem Cell and Gene Therapy.

 When asked about the convicted French journalist, the President of the Republic responded: "Out of respect for Algerian justice, I will only answer that question while in Algeria, and since I'm not in Algeria right now, I won't be answering it."
